frum: the mainstream media distinction is dead

In this quote from David Frum (hat tip: Mike Hudak), the shift away from a single gatekeeper to a world of small, loosely connected gates is laid bare.  Frum's context is media & politics - you could just as easily use this to describe mainstream religion, civic organizations, even legacy media.

In many ways, we are in the early early stages of these tectonic shifts, with very few norms or standard conventions.  I suspect the gatekeepers will not go quietly into their night - that we will see an attempt to shove the genie as far back into the bottle as she will fit.
