Stumbled on this via MeFi. In what I can only hope is well-intentioned consel, the site suggests
many of these teens experience “great waves of guilt accompanied by secret fears of divine retribution"
Ya think ? Wow, wonder where that came from ?
It seems long past time for the church - liberal and conservative, 'gellie & mainline, Catholic and non-denom - for all the church to confess to the decades of abuse, hatred, scorn and fear that we have heaped upon people who express any same-sex attraction.
Let us pray.
Gitchi Manitou, Great Spirit, Maker of Earth and Sky:
early in the morning, at noon, in the quiet of the evening,
under the star-flung skies,
in the multi-colored company
of your Church on earth and in heaven
we celebrate your creation,
your life, your death and resurrection,
your interest in us;
so, to you we pray,
Lord, bring new life
where we have turned hard-hearted,
forgiveness where we feel hurt
and where we have wounded,
and the joy and freedom of your holy Spirit
where we are the prisoners of ourselves.
(silence is kept)
To all and to each
where regret is real,
God pronounces pardon
and grants us the right to begin again. Thanks be to God!
Amen.Adapted from A Wee Worship Book, 4th ed.

What's more sad? The signs they're holding or the fact they're smiling (and probably proud) while holding them. So, so sad.

the godhatesfags people came to protest some churches and a school here in tulsa. a friend and I went out to see what it was like one evening...fortunately no one gathered to see them and no one was accosted by them. The heartbreaking fact that isn't portrayed in the photo is that little children were protesting with the godhatesfags signs as well.
