Greeting fellow Stumblers - and thanks for agreeing to be part of this rag-tag effort to get folks connected to Renee's story.
Let me review some details on the book :
* The book site for is now live here* A sampler can be downloaded here Download stumbling_toward_faith_sample.pdf.
In a nutshell, a Virtual Book Tour consists of an author "stopping" at a given number of websites in a given about of time, the same as they would do at bookstores during a real world tour. At these stops, the author may be interviewed, may take over the site for a day and blog themselves, may answer questions from readers, get their book reviewed or do all four.
thanks to everyone... i am excited and terrified at the same time about all of this.
i got my first "negative" comment about the book this morning. it wasn't negative, so much, as it was from a survivor who said that the book caused her to "tremble for 3 days" and that she hadn't had flashbacks for years, until she read the excerpt.
it's left me feeling a little uncomfortable -- i have no desire to hurt people.
with that in mind, i put a little notice next to the download on the stf site, saying that the excerpt might be triggering for abuse survivors.
i'm not sure why i'm mentioning it here, except that it made me a little funny feeling today.

hey renee,
i am honored to be included in this, and look forward to helping.
i understand that your raw emotions may make someone else deal with their's, but we all know dealing is a much better place than denying.
i'm sorry that it made you feel responsible though.

i think your book *will* be a trigger for some people, but i know abuse survivors who will be interested in that for this very purpose. sometimes you need something to jolt you to get to the next level.
praying for you

hey renee, I'm glad you thought to put the notice next to the download. That gives choice back to the readers, and learning we have choice is so huge, isn't it? To me, that feels very honoring to everyone, including yourself. I remember when I read Just Before Dawn, by Jan Hindman. Huge triggers for me - I put it down, worked through more, picked it back up, took my time and it was very impactful and freeing. I pray your book will be the same for you and many others.

Renee, in pastoral ministry I run into a number of folks hidden in a subculture of pain. I trust your daring work will help them name their experience and find a companionship in the journey.
I look forward to connecting with you on my blog.
Let's connect in early Sept with some plans for 9.27.
