how is an atheist 'a believer' in the context in which that phrase was used today in President Obama's speech?
thank you for posting the Seeger/Springsteen/Rodriguez and choir clip - what a wonderful performance, and what a great moment for Pete Seeger, and for us all.

Response to Bob Carlton: I was actually very gratified to hear Obama's reference to "non-believers," being a devout (and I do mean devout) Agnostic myself. And pleeeeese don't confuse Agnosticism with Atheism! Atheists are believers. Agnostics are non-believers.

Dear me, what a glory it is that I lived to see this day! And that our beloved Pete did, and the Rev. Lowry, and all the others who have hoped and prayed and kept our eyes on the prize, all these long years - so many years when we felt we were shut out, marginalized, suppressed, blacklisted and worse. I foresee a great upwelling of energy and love, which will only be made stronger by the economic hard times that are being promised us. Time to Bring Back the Victory Gardens! Time to collect scraps of copper and aluminum for all the new solar panels! Time to bicycle, friends.
