These past two weeks have seen John McCain, a genuine war hero & long-time senator, violate a commitment he made to campaign in a manner that is honest & worthy of our country at this time of challenge.  I am ashamed of what McCain is doing, sad to see him give into the politics of destruction.

While it has been striking to see the media call him on it, it has been moving to see two people more commonly identified as conservative speak to the core premise of what McCain is trying to do:

• Kuo: McCain's "The One"

• Gergen: McCain Calling Obama "Uppity"

 

America electing a President who is not white (or not male, when that takes place) will be very, very difficult.  People in power - particularly white guys like me - have a history of attacking people we perceive as unlike us.
