Horizon2107

I am hoping you might join in a grid blog next Tues, Sept. 25.  The topic is deceptively simple:

what does the year 2107 look like from your vantage point

Using your blog, or some other social media (video, podcast, slidecast), frame what you think our world will look like in 2107,  100 years from now.  Focus on whatever aspect(s) you want – personal, educational, technological, environmental, theological, financial, political or cultural.  As a frame of reference, this is what the world looked like 100 years ago.

If you are planning to join this grid blog – just leave a comment below, with your site url & email.

The specifics of why the metaphor of a horizon and how a grid blog works are below.  2 additional points:

  • Please feel free to forward this as broadly as you’d like.
  • If you've got additional ideas for this project, email me here

WHY THE HORIZON ?

If you spend any time walking, hiking or moving at all, you quickly realize the truth of this statement:

Never look down to test the ground before taking your next step; only she who keeps her eye fixed on the far horizon will find the right road(s).

The world (blogging & non) is filled with stories of all of looking down at the ground before our next step – how great would it be to look to the horizon, like the great explorers that have come before us.  By moving our focus to the line at which the earth and the sky seem to meet - the limit or range of perception, knowledge, or the like – we have the freedom to shift the wind.

HOW A GRID BLOG WORKS

The idea of a grid blog appears to originate with ashley benigo .  It is very easy – next Tues Sept. 25, folks would post their own reflection on their own blogs (including media of any type) and include in their post

        (a) [Grid::Blog::horizon2107] in their subject line and
        (b) the attached image, or some hack of it

Download horizon2107.png

If you get a chance & remember, please email me a link for your post on that day.
