From DeeperSeaSad news just into my feed reader: Columnist Molly Ivins dies Reading the newspaper in Dallas-Ft Worth was a little more sane when she was writing (first for the Times-Herald, than the Star-Telegram). She was a righteous struggler, a gorgeously writing & talking salmon swimming upstream.
Somewhere in heaven, it just got funnier (with a East Texas accent).
In her last column on January 11, she opposed 's proposed "surge" escalation of the war. In strong language -- even for a writer famous for plain talk -- she stated:
"We are the people who run this country. We are the deciders. And every single day, every single one of us needs to step outside and take some action to help stop this war."
